The holidays are over, which means it’s time to start thinking about PBE’s biggest fundraiser of the year: the annual gala and auction. The online auction, from March 12 – 19, kicks off the fundraising, and the party happens on Friday, April 20 at the Soledad Club.
The theme this year is Havana Nights, and it’s not to soon to start planning your outfit! For the women, think colorful Cuban glamour: brightly-colored dresses, floral prints, gold bangles, and high heels. For the men, fitted pants, Cuban heel boots, Panama hats, and fedoras — anything with a retro, 50s feel.
This year we’re lucky to have Elizabeth Leffler-Agia as our auction chair. New to PBE (she has a son in kindergarten) Elizabeth is experienced at running fundraisers — she served as the gala chair at La Jolla Methodist Nursery School.
The auction items are still being finalized, but Elizabeth is particularly excited about one in particular: a house in Puerto Vallarta for eight days, seven nights for up to 22 guests.
This one will take a little coordinating, so start gathering a group of friends to pitch in and bid on the ultimate multi-family getaway.
Whether you bid on a vacation or a class project, the night is a great excuse to dress up, dance with friends, and support the school.
“I love raising money for a good cause, and helping the students and the teachers,” Elizabeth said, “and every child deserves a school that feels like home.”
