Well folks, it’s that time of year again! Spring is knocking on the door, and we are heading into fundraising season. The online auction is March 16th-23rd, to be followed by our Derby Soiree on May 1st at Marina Village.

Our theme this year is “Down and Derby!” The Kentucky Derby is the longest, uninterrupted horse race in the country. The tradition started in 1875 and continues today with the 146th race begin held on May 2nd. With this event, we want to continue another wonderful tradition.

We want to continue the work of FOPBE in supporting our children and school. Without your contributions, our volunteers, teachers, and the hard work of FOPBE members, Pacific Beach Elementary would not be the educational institution it is today. All of us have the goal of seeing our children well-educated, well-rounded and as happy as a hound dog with 2 tails. The programs funded every year work towards these goals.

After all the hand work we put into each year, it is time for a good ole down-home shindig! We are mixing up the Mint Juleps and bringing the Southern Charm to this year’s event. Bring your best hats and bowties to this once a year event. Don’t forget to bring your pocketbooks, as the event will be filled with amazing items to bid on (Live Auction, Class Room Art Projects, Community Artist, and More).

To get y’all ready for the party, Village Hat Shop will be hosting a private shopping event April 14th from 6-8pm. I do declare the perfect hat is a must for any Derby Soiree. So get gussied up and get ready to party for a wonderful cause, our kids!
