Give A Gift That Counts
Give what you can
Any amount is appreciated and 100% of proceeds directly benefit our school. By contributing you are helping FOPBE continue valuable programs for our students such as science and performing arts enrichment, and new this year, FOPBE is funding playground facilitators.
Spread the word
We all know it takes a village to raise a child, so please spread the word to your family, friends, neighbors, local businesses and work places. No child is successful alone and we are so grateful for our community of support. Don’t forget that many companies offer corporate matching and all donations are tax deductible.

It’s hard to believe, but the school year is almost over. Before we put away the lunchboxes and backpacks and start focusing on summer camps, vacation, and beach days, we need to wrap up a few important things. This includes finding volunteers for some open positions next year. If you are new to PBE (or[…]
The holidays are over, which means it’s time to start thinking about PBE’s biggest fundraiser of the year: the annual gala and auction. The online auction, from March 12 – 19, kicks off the fundraising, and the party happens on Friday, April 20 at the Soledad Club. The theme this year is Havana Nights, and[…]
Students at Pacific Beach Elementary are fortunate to have two supplemental science programs: San Diego Youth Science, led by Stacy Circuit and Danielle Adler, and Project Lead the Way, led by Dr. Susan Weinshanker. PBE is in its second year of the Project Lead the Way grant, which provides students with science, technology, engineering, and math[…]
Once a year, a little red truck arrives at Pacific Beach Elementary. Inside is everything needed to put on a musical — in just one week. Missoula Children’s Theatre (MCT) is one of the most treasured traditions at PBE. MCT is the nation’s largest touring children’s theatre, visiting nearly 1,100 communities each year. FOPBE sponsors[…]
Pacific Beach Elementary is lucky to have another experienced teacher with deep ties to the community join us this year. Pamela Denenberg, PBE’s new first grade teacher, has been teaching for 26 years, all of it in the San Diego Unified School District. She’s taught at Alice Birney Elementary in Normal Heights and Rosa Parks[…]
Our new second grade teacher, Brenda Taylor, isn’t new to teaching — or to Pacific Beach. This year marks Taylor’s twenty-first year of teaching. She grew up in Pacific Beach and lives in the community today. She attended Crown Point Elementary, PB Middle School, and Mission Bay High before graduating from San Diego State University.[…]
Friday/Saturday August 11-12 Put some muscle to the metamorphosis! Looking for a way to spruce up our school and have fun at the same time? Then come with your brooms, shovels, gloves, paint clothes and/or muscle to our grounds beautification event! We need neighbors, friends, grandparents, residents and kids to tackle beautifying several areas of[…]
For the third year in a row, the students at PBE have an exciting and interactive way to learn about science, the environment, and conservation through the six-week Climate Kids program. Climate Kids uses science activities, storytelling, and art to educate children about climate change. Funded independently of PBE, this marks the first school year[…]
Pacific Beach Elementary is a vibrant school humming with activity and energy. We have a before-school jogging club, a flourishing garden, diverse after-school activities, a weeklong theatre experience, and hands-on science and art enrichment enjoyed by every student at the school. Many of these wonderful opportunities for our children are the result of behind-the-scenes work[…]
Last month, the students in Mr. Gallo’s first grade class visited two kindergarten classes, bringing books to read and share. It started when Mr. Gallo’s students were collecting books at home for their own classroom book exchange, and realized they all had books they’d outgrown. So in the spirit of Thanksgiving—focusing on being thankful and helping[…]
Learn About Us
Friends of Pacific Beach Elementary (FOPBE) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting students. As a parent-teacher organization, FOPBE serves as a venue for parents, teachers and administrators to interact together to create a dynamic educational environment for our children. FOPBE fundraises through various avenues to bring educational and enrichment programs to students, and funds school needs during the school year.
This is an exciting time to be at PBE. We have a new principal, a new focus, and are excited for the future. Last year, FOPBE spent about $520 per student! This is an incredible amount and is only possible through the generosity of the families and community that support PBE. Please help FOPBE continue to provide excellent programs and opportunities for every child, including:
In 2017-2018, we plan to fund Science, P.E. and Performing Arts Enrichment, a new Playground Facilitator program, Field Trips, Library Books, Art, Assemblies, Missoula Children’s Theater, Family Math Night, Jogging Club, Penguin Pride Night, Garden, Instructional Supplies, and more!
In 2016-2017, we funded an extra classroom teacher!
